Mr. Gaνriel Charalambides was born in Kritou-Marotou of Paphos on Noνember 3’d 1947. He finished the local high school and started working after completing his military service.
He was employed in the company Comet Farm where after a short period of time and relevant training in Israel, England and United States of America was promoted to Production Manager. His love for animals leaded him to the creation of his own animal farm in Peristerona, Nicosia. In 1968 he imported the race sheep of Chios which he kept breeding until 1986. In 1980 and in cooperation with the institute of Agriculture Research in Cyprus made an inter cross of these sheep and the ones coming from the Frizian race resulting to the sheep with the characteristic number XIK076 which had a bigger efficiency in milk production and was exported in countries like Jordan, Egypt and United Emirates.
He also created a unit that included cows and goats of Damaskos. This race of goats was awarded in 1989 by the Ministry of Agriculture Natural Resources and Environment as the most efficient race in Cyprus in milk production. Between 1998 – 2002 having 40 Goats of Damaskos and 40 goats of Maxaira to his ownership, started experiments with sperm insemination of the Saanen race that was imported from France. This inter cross resulted to an increase of milk production in both animals (goat of Damaskos from 400 lt/year to 700 lt/year and goat of Maxaira from 150 lt/year to 300 lt/year).
In 2004 he imported from Holland pure blood goats of the Saanen race. In 2010 he created a super modern unit having 800 female goats used as a breeding-stock, which he preserves until today in cooperation with its son, Agathoklis Charalambides, with a continuing increase in animal milk production and weight.
